My Essential Daily Habits That Skyrocket My Productivity

Simple daily habits can turn your day, drenched in procrastination, into one brimming with productive energy. A well-thought-out routine focusing on healthy daily habits is what you need to become more productive. Although this idea of building a healthy morning routine, especially to improve productivity, brings me a sense of fulfillment, it also tempts me to fit in as many habits as I believe would be productive. It was after quelling this temptation that I embraced healthy habits that would improve my productivity and my well-being.

So, my daily routines are filled with intentionally selected simple daily habits focused on boosting productivity. Since I find mornings more conducive to effectiveness, I infused healthy daily habits into my morning routine to achieve the best results.

Unhealthy habits persuade us to settle for comfort, a specious choice that later becomes the cause of self-sabotage. Not to shock you, but self-sabotage is a real, conscious decision we take, especially the decision to procrastinate—the main culprit that kills our productivity! Procrastination lures us with the promise of comfort (and perpetuates the need to relax before any task), but it has different intentions. Scrolling reels on Instagram might give a quick hit of serotonin, yet it undermines the necessary tasks through this illusion of relaxation.

Many such self-sabotaging habits have the reputation of curbing daily productivity, which impacts our well-being. My productivity levels suffered tremendously, prompting me to search for a solution to become more productive. What did I do? I structured my daily routine by adding simple daily habits that will help improve productivity. Peek into my daily habits that I faithfully commit to every morning, making me ready for the day.

The power of simple daily habits is astounding. With many interruptions causing us to lose focus, the possibility of achieving higher productivity suffers a resounding disappointment without a structured routine. We blame ourselves for not completing all the tasks. Daily habit-building can bring optimistic intentions to your day. Together with mindful intentions, these small, simple tweaks in your habits can save you from the onslaught of “unproductivity”.

Imagine the boost your productivity receives after being consistent with your daily habits. I structured my daily morning routine by adding healthy habits to become more productive. Each habit aligns with my personal growth goals, including increased productivity. Productive levels fluctuate as our moods change throughout the day. Still, we must follow our daily habits consistently.

The art of daily planning

Decision fatigue robbed me of precious time that I could have spent relieving; instead, I had to juggle many decisions simultaneously, failing to prioritize important tasks. The aftermath: My day suffered terribly. Real Simple defines decision fatigue as the mental exhaustion someone experiences after making a lot of decisions. As the deluge of decision fatigue weighed on my mental health, I found solace in planning my day. Writing a clear plan for the day is the morning ritual I swear by. The quiet morning hours are the pinnacle of my priorities as I focus on actions that bring me closer to my goals. I write down all tasks before I get bobbled up with all mental receipts.

Add mindful exercises to your morning routine

Building a healthy exercise routine in the morning beats the odds of having a tired and frustrated day. A morning workout fuels your productivity. Approaching an exercise routine with a perfunctory mindset is more debilitating. You must anticipate pain and grumpiness before you engage in an exercise regime. But the rewards are mind-blowing! The list of rewards seems endless: increased blood circulation, increased muscle strength, improved mental focus, etc. My appreciation for daily exercise increased threefold upon experiencing its benefits.

Finding peace in these daily physical moments—a morning brisk walk, an invigorating yoga session, or a heart-pumping workout—has primed me to conquer the day ahead with focus and vigor. Mindful exercises are the reason why I look forward to my morning rituals.

Never skip a healthy morning breakfast

After the strenuous (but needed) exercise regime, the first bite of my yummy breakfast feels heavenly. A perfect mix of all healthy nutrients, my healthy breakfast powers my body, fueling my body’s veins with energy. This dose of energy is very refreshing and helps curb any feelings of exhaustion and annoyance that could ruin your mood. You see, the entire day becomes a nuisance if your mornings are bad. Therefore, by faithfully committing to such breakfasts, you convince your mind to manage your feelings and emotions. A protein-rich breakfast is fulfilling in its nature, as proteins are crucial for bodily functions. Consuming protein-rich foods in the mornings is a sure-shot way to begin your day with a power boost.

Many working professionals may not be fortunate enough to enjoy a fulfilling, healthy breakfast due to their jobs. And I get that feeling! Some days, when I have a busy schedule, I experience the pain of eating breakfast half-heartedly (or entirely skipping it). Hence, I pre-plan all my meals, even breakfasts. I prepare yogurt jars, ready smoothie food items for a quick mix, pre-cut veggies and keep them tightly packed, and plan quick breakfast ideas like boiled eggs with healthy fruits or vegetables or healthy recipes with less than 5 minutes of preparation time. This pre-planning saves me significant time and doesn’t compromise on healthy consumption.

Practice journaling every morning

As a skeptic before about journaling practice, I soon found (and experienced) that I undermined this healthy habit—the best way to stop self-sabotage and increase productivity. My surprise upon figuring out that daily journaling could help you become more productive knew no limits; I mean, this is a simple act of putting your thoughts on paper! What could this daily habit possibly achieve that brings instant clarity?

Simple daily habits like journaling cultivate mindfulness and clarity, just as regular exercise is for our bodies. It is an antidote against all those discursive thoughts that hamper your productivity. Working with a confused state of mind imminently breaks your focus, leaving all tasks half-completed. This is the opposite of productivity!

Every morning, I dedicate some time to journaling. This sincere approach cultivated a strong pull toward this habit. And why shouldn’t it be? Words weigh more. The pen and paper unravel the tangled threads in my mind and increase mental awareness, clearing space for creative decisions; they anchor me in the present moment with increased mental strength.

Adding the right healthy habits to your routine

Reiterating the adage – habits build routines, routines build discipline, and discipline re-structures your life. While increased productivity is the gift of your dedication, a productive routine is your list of goal-oriented comfort habits.

1. Have a clear goal. Is your aim about sleeping early, increasing mental strength, focusing on your favorite habits, or focusing on becoming more productive (like me)? Having clear intentions is imperative for any form of personal growth.

2. Begin small and slow with your habits. If more than two habits seem unmanageable, invest your time in one habit only, but ensure you religiously follow it every day. Then add one habit progressively until the process of all your chosen habits looks natural.

3. Acknowledge your daily spending time. I prefer morning routines for my daily habits, as I find mornings to be more effective for me. I left evenings for daily outings with family or friends, other menial tasks, or to relax from the day’s fatigue. Figure out your active timing and plan your daily habits accordingly.

4. Be accountable for your decisions and practice patience. Many purport that approximately 21 days are needed to establish a habit. You will encounter small setbacks in this habit-building journey but do not deter from your aim. Hence, the first point. Being intentional with your aim helps you stay committed to the process.

5. Honestly, the most recommended advice is to enjoy the process. Enjoy the person you will become. My set of simple daily habits reshaped my perspective, channeled my angst into relevant thoughts, and brought a sense of clarity. This helped me become more productive than I was before, and I couldn’t stop loving the person I have become. So, fall in love with the process, and any pain or distress will be just a speck in comparison.
